The proximity switch is a position switch that can be operated without direct mechanical contact with moving parts. When the sensing surface of the object approaches the operating distance of the switch, the switch can be activated without the need for mechanical contact or any applied pressure. This can then drive a DC device or provide a control signal to a computer (PLC) system.
It has the characteristics of limit switches and micro-switches, while also having sensing capabilities. Its operation is reliable, its performance is stable, its frequency response is fast, and it has a long service life. It also has strong anti-interference capabilities, as well as features like waterproofing, anti-vibration, and corrosion resistance.
There are two main types of proximity switches: inductive and capacitive.
